SilVR Adventures is proud to announce an exciting research collaboration with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and St Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC), exploring how immersive virtual reality (VR) reminiscence therapy can enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of older adults.

Titled “Acceptance of Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) Reminiscence Therapy in Older Persons and its Efficacy on Quality of Life and Wellbeing,” this study will investigate the effectiveness of using immersive 360º VR content as a tool for reminiscence and engagement in community care settings.

The research intervention will involve four weekly sessions, each lasting 30 minutes, delivered to groups of older adults at a senior care centre. Facilitated by trained care associates, participants will be immersed in a selection of three or more curated 360º experiences per session—ranging from childhood hometowns and iconic landmarks to calming natural environments—all developed by SilVR Adventures.

Reminiscence therapy has long been recognised for its benefits in promoting emotional wellbeing, stimulating memory recall, and encouraging social interaction. By combining this with immersive VR technology, the project aims to evaluate both the acceptance and emotional impact of these experiences in a structured care environment.

The findings from this collaboration have the potential to inform broader implementation of VR across aged care and community care settings, offering a new and scalable method to reduce loneliness and social isolation among seniors—particularly those with limited mobility or cognitive decline.

We’re honoured to partner with SUSS and SLEC on this important initiative and look forward to sharing the outcomes in due course.
