SUSS Research Study

At SilVR Adventures, we are honored to collaborate with Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and St. Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC) on a pioneering research project: Acceptance of Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) Reminiscence Therapy in Older Persons and its Efficacy on Quality of Life and Wellbeing. This partnership reflects our shared vision of harnessing innovative technology to improve the lives of older adults and their caregivers.

The study explores the transformative potential of immersive VR reminiscence therapy in enhancing the quality of life and well-being of seniors. Over four weeks, participants will engage in weekly 30-minute VR sessions, administered by trained care associates at SLEC centers. Each session features at least three immersive 360º videos curated by SilVR Adventures, showcasing destinations and activities designed to evoke cherished memories and foster meaningful emotional connections.

“This collaboration represents the heart of what SilVR Adventures stands for—using cutting-edge technology to deliver meaningful experiences that foster connection, reduce isolation, and uplift lives.”

Seniors at St. Luke’s ElderCare explore iconic landmarks through SilVR Adventures’ VR, sparking connection and curiosity.

“We are confident the findings from this study will pave the way for scalable implementation across community care organisations, benefiting socially isolated seniors and their caregivers on a broader scale”, said Colin Pudsey, Founder of SilVR Adventures.

Dr. Alan Wong, COO of SLEC, shared his enthusiasm for the project:

“It has been a fantastic journey working with SilVR Adventures to bring such high-quality content to our elders. The ability to revisit a cherished place or experience an activity they never had the chance to do is truly remarkable and deeply meaningful.”

The implications of this research extend far beyond the immediate participants. If successful, the study could provide a blueprint for implementing VR reminiscence therapy in other community care organisations, offering a powerful tool to combat loneliness, foster social engagement, and support emotional well-being among seniors. It also provides caregivers with an innovative, practical solution to create shared moments of joy and connection.

By bringing treasured memories to life, immersive VR is transforming how we engage with and support older adults. This research initiative is a critical step toward a future where technology and care seamlessly intertwine to enrich lives.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project as we work alongside SUSS and SLEC to revolutionise aged care practices and bring the magic of VR to those who need it most. Together, we are shaping a brighter, more connected future for our elders.

SilVR Adventures’ VR library, available in 30+ languages, fosters inclusivity by bringing connection, nostalgia, and joy to CALD residents in aged care.
