SilVR Adventures continues to lead the way in demonstrating how immersive virtual reality (VR) can transform aged care and wellbeing across cultures. Building on a foundation of peer-reviewed research and real-world evidence, SilVR is now extending its academic collaborations throughout Asia, reinforcing its position as one of the most research-driven VR providers in the Australia–New Zealand region and beyond.

In Australia, SilVR’s collaboration with Deakin University has provided compelling evidence of the power of VR to enhance wellbeing for older adults. The study’s findings highlight just how transformative VR can be in aged care settings:

🧠 Cognitive and physical engagement increased significantly, with 92.9% of previously inactive residents showing movement during VR.

💙 Mood improved and agitation decreased, supporting VR as a powerful, non-pharmacological intervention to enhance emotional wellbeing.

💬 Social interaction was sparked, with 83.6% of previously socially inactive residents engaging in conversation following the sessions.

These results have been widely recognised as some of the strongest data supporting immersive technology in aged care, shaping the conversation around how innovation can complement compassionate care.

On the back of this success, SilVR has expanded its academic partnerships across Asia. In Singapore, we collaborated with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and St Luke’s ElderCare (SLEC) on a soon to be published study titled “Acceptance of Immersive Virtual Reality (VR) Reminiscence Therapy in Older Persons and its Efficacy on Quality of Life and Wellbeing.”

This research investigated the effectiveness of using immersive 360º VR content as a tool for reminiscence and engagement in community care settings and conducted mainly in Mandarin, marking an important milestone for multilingual accessibility and cross-cultural understanding.

Further north, SilVR has joined forces with the University of Hong Kong (HKU)—the territory’s oldest institute of higher learning and internationally recognised university—on the study “Tech-based Respite Care for Caregivers and Homebound Older Adults.”

This project explores how immersive VR can provide respite, engagement, and connection for both caregivers and older adults at home, conducted in Cantonese. It underscores the importance of delivering technology in the language and cultural context that feels most familiar to participants, reinforcing the value of personal connection and inclusivity in digital health innovation.

Together, these studies represent a growing body of international research that demonstrates how VR can transcend borders and languages to improve quality of life. From Melbourne to Singapore and Hong Kong, SilVR is proving that immersive technology, when guided by empathy and science, can foster joy, social connection, and a sense of belonging among older adults everywhere.

As SilVR Adventures continues to grow across Australia, New Zealand, and Asia, these collaborations affirm our mission: to combine human-centred technology, evidence-based research, and cultural understanding to redefine what’s possible in aged care.
